Job Description;

The Rural Municipality of Stanley No. 215 is currently accepting applications for the position of Public Works Supervisor. This position is responsible for the supervision of the road maintenance crew, including permanent and seasonal public works and utility operators. This position is also responsible for administrative tasks including work planning and project tracking. This is a Working Supervisor position, and, as such, this position will also be responsible for the operation of equipment and maintenance tasks to ensure public safety and the efficient operation of the R.M.

Duties include but are not limited to;

●       Work and help in all areas as this is a working supervisor position;

●       Train, coach, mentor employees;

●       Plan, organize and supervise the delivery of the maintenance and construction programs;

●       Manage the work order system and assign tasks. Report any concerns to the Administrator and/or Council immediately;

●       Monitor and supervise work activities to ensure quality, efficiency, and safety;

●       Assist with procurement of pre-approved public works purchases and maintain inventory counts;

●       Instill a high standard of customer service and workmanship, including accuracy, consistency, and completeness in any documents issued or created;

●       Assign and prioritize work by setting employee schedules and review and approve timesheets;

●       Develop and maintain appropriate records relating to work, safety, equipment inspections and maintenance;

●       Work closely with the Administrator and Council;

●       General roadwork including clearing roadways of snow, debris, and vegetation;

●       Perform basic building repairs and grounds maintenance;

●       Ensure the inspection of roads, bridges, drainage systems, culverts and erosion control are completed and accurate;

●       Work in a team environment;

●       Develop, implement and manage a comprehensive Safety program;

●       Inspect quality and procedures on an ongoing basis;

●       Enforce rules and policies;

●       Identify opportunities to eliminate waste and lead initiatives to improve operational efficiency and quality;

●       Build strong relationships with rate-payers, employees, Council and the general public. Assist in creating and sustaining a culture of continuous improvement.

Required Skills;

●       Minimum 5 years of direct work experience in municipal transportation services;

●       Direct supervisory and team leadership experience;

●       Highly motivated and capable of multitasking, and able to work with minimal supervision;

●       Extremely detail-oriented and an analytical thinker;

●       Ability to create and review technical documentation, including project plans;

●       Experience with web-based software interfaces and team applications;

●       Strong problem identification and problem-solving skills;

●       Strong work ethic and positive team attitude;

●       Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds;

●       Mechanically inclined;

●       Valid Class 5 driver’s license;

●       Acceptable driver’s abstract;

●       Assets: Class 3A Drivers license; Class 1A Drivers license; NCSO certification.
